In a rather unusual sort of way, Renault will rely on the expertise of international logistics company DHL to keep the automaker's electric vehicles in action.

Officially, Renault has inked a three-year deal listing DHL as the sole provider of a "comprehensive international solution for the distribution of replacement lithium-ion batteries to the dealer's network that has been designed to cope with mass market needs."

What this basically means is that, when a Renault owner requires a replacement battery, DHL will deliver one from its storage depot in Bonneuil, France to any of the automaker's "Expert Z.E." dealers across Europe and Asia. Upon delivering the replacement unit, DHL will pick up spent battery packs and take them to one of Renault's certified repair centers. At up to 738 pounds, moving the massive packs is a task that's probably best left to the pros at DHL.
