Michigan Senator pushing US lithium production
Time to mine US lithium supplies
New bill to be announced today
Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow (D) will announce a new bill today aimed at increasing US competitiveness in lithium battery manufacturing. One of the key focuses of the bill, therefore, will be to incentivize US production of lithium.
About time.
With strong anti-US capitalism statements coming out of Bolivia and Chile regarding lithium, coupled with China’s current rare earth embargoes, US lithium production seems a necessity.
Besides, already Toyota and Japan, for instance, have made major lithium deals with Bolivia, and if the US is going to be a major player in the battery revolution, cost-effective lithium could be critical to success.
