The 2012 Nissan Leaf will go on sale in Norway this fall. At 255,000 Norwegian kroner ($47,112 U.S. at the current exchange rate), the Leaf will be priced to directly compete with Norway's conventional (gas- and diesel-powered) compact vehicles. Come this fall, Norway will be the ninth European country to launch the zero-emissions electric hatchback.
Nissan says the Leaf's operating costs are less than 12 Norwegian kroner per 100 kilometers ($2.21 per 62 miles). That price includes the battery pack, a five-year subscription to Nissan's Carwings in-vehicle telematics system and roadside assistance. The Leaf is exempt from Norway's non-recurring vehicle tax, VAT, public parking fees and toll payments.
All Norway-bound Leafs come equipped with air conditioning, satellite navigation, rear-view parking camera, a quick-charge socket, smartphone connectivity and a cold-weather package, which includes a battery heater, heated outside mirrors, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats and an HVAC duct to the rear seating area.
